My name is Amanda Ainsworth and I am from Byram, MS. I am an Elementary Education major at the University of Southern Mississippi. I love children and I love to learn, which is why I love to see children have a passion for learning. When I graduate, I plan to teach at underprivileged schools in MS for at least two years. My passion is Mississippi schools because I want to give back to the state that I love and hopefully help do away with some of the negative stereotypes that have become associated with the intelligence levels of Mississippians. I believe the best way to do this is to ignite the flame of a desire to learn while a child is young and still impressionable.
Hi Amanda,
ReplyDeleteThe reasons you gave for continuing to teach in Mississippi are valiant and I believe with that attitude you can make a big difference in many children's lives. What are some of your hobbies? You didn't give any. There is a program where you can receive financial aid if you will teach in an under served school district for two years. Have you looked into that?
I like to read and to write. I also like to learn. I am in love with words and the fact that rearranging them in different ways can portray everything we wish to say, so I like anything that involves languages and the manipulation of words. I have looked into a few programs. My uncle recommended Teach For America and I have just received the Critical Needs Teacher Scholarship Program (CNTP)scholarship from the state of Mississippi.
